The village of Gerri's mediaeval origins are evident above all in the arrangement of the old centre in the form of a walled town and with the presence of two old watch towers, the Prison Tower and the bridge.

In mediaeval times, the bridge at Gerri was the only access to the road to BaƩn and towards the Alt Urgell district. The reconstructions it has undergone over time have tried to maintain its original form.
In Gerri there are two well differentiated watch towers: the North tower had a circular footprint while that of the South tower was square.
The prison tower dates from the 13th century, it has a nearly square footprint and a height of some 10 metres.
Detail of the construction of the tower with the same technique and material as the walls of the salt beds system.
The salt beds, terraces on the banks of the river separated by canals, channels and walls, with ponds and gullies, give character to the village of Gerri's landscape.
