Àreu

Àreu is a small municipal unit in the Vall Ferrera territory, which - along with the villages of Araós, Ainet de Besan, Norís, Besan and Tor - falls under the Town Council of Alins. Àreu has a sawmill and a flour mill that date from the 19th century. Both still function and are very well preserved, standing as an exceptional heritage and cultural resource in what is a very small rural centre - with just 100 inhabitants - situated in a setting that is very active in terms of tourism.

Àreu and the Vall Ferrera - which boasts numerous architectural, natural and urban heritage features at its centres and at isolated points around its extensive municipal district - are an obligatory stopping point to be made on this journey.
