General introduction

The three towns on this virtual route - Gerri de la Sal, Capdella and Àreu - are geographically close to each other and share the fact that they all belong to the territorial network of the Museu Nacional de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya (National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia - www.mnactec.cat). Precisely for this reason, the interactive audiovisual tour which you are about to take places the accent on the heritage, landscape and cultural values of the route. It is a tool for familiarising visitors with the territory and promoting cultural tourism.

These three places share a common thematic thread: water, as the industrial exploitation factor that has determined their landscape, cultural, economic and social characteristics, i.e. their territorial identity. At the same time they are three different and unique examples of the history of industrialisation in Catalonia.
