Gerri de la Sal
The town of Gerri de la Sal is the capital of the Baix Pallars, an administrative unit formed by the municipalities of Montcortès, Peramea, Baén and Gerri de la Sal itself. It lies in the southern part of the Pallars Sobirà, 600m above sea level in a narrow valley crossed by the Noguera Pallaresa river. Its history has always been linked to the production of common salt; this has given its landscape a distinctive character.
Its inland salt beds, its salt warehouse or Alfolí - which will become the industrial, landscape and cultural information centre for the area - and its magnificent surroundings, prominently including the Montcortès Lake, one of the three lakes of Karstic origin in Catalonia - all form part of this interactive audiovisual.
